In this Nature’s Bounty Hair, Skin & Nails Review, we’ll take an unbiased look at everything there is worth knowing about the supplement before you actually decide whether or not you should purchase it.
Thus, in this article, we will first examine the claims associated with the supplement. But after that, we will transition into examining, analyzing and dissecting every single ingredient present in the supplement. Additionally, we’ll also look at what people are saying and whether or not such a supplement can actually help you improve hair, skin and nail health.
All to make as accurate of an assessment about the Nature’s Bounty Hair, Skin & Nails as possible.
The goal here is to create a review so thorough that there would not be a need for you to ever look at another supplement review for this specific supplement. Therefore, if there is a section or aspect I haven’t covered but you’re interested in, let me know. And I’ll add that to the review.
Nature’s Bounty Hair, Skin & Nails Review – The Overview
Nature’s Bounty Hair, Skin & Nails (in its full name Nature’s Bounty Extra Strength Hair, Skin and Nails) is a nutritional supplement that combines within itself more than 11 key ingredients along with Argan Oil all for the improvement of your hair, skin, and nails.
The description page (as always it is the case with Nature’s Bounty) is superficially quite abundant with information.
Not only it offers insights into supplement facts but also there’s the supplement description, FAQ’s, Related Products Section, Related Information Section, and Reviews. [R]
At the end of the day, though, most of all claims can be found in the supplement description section.
And the essence of them is pretty straight forward.
They say that “it contains just the right balance of nutrients to help support lustrous hair, strong nails, and vibrant skin”. But most importantly “this innovative formula provides you with the vital nutrients your body needs to support your natural beauty from within”.
Above that, they also state that by using this formula you will look good and feel great, and it will make you healthy and in so beautiful.
Additionally, there is some information as to what certain vitamins do. For example, Vitamin E contributes to skin health, B vitamins help with energy metabolism, etc. All pretty generic, all pretty standard.
In the FAQ’s section, they also downplay the role of taking a multivitamin supplement while you are taking this supplement. As they put it, this is because the supplement contains many vitamins and other ingredients that will overlap.
So, to put it in simple terms, it’s basically a multivitamin that has a focus on hair, skin, and nail health.
So, does it look appealing to you?
I mean is all that they claim you truly after and heavily interested in?
Let’s see how true it holds.
One last thing, to be perfectly clear, this Nature’s Bounty Hair, Skin & Nails review is primarily on the 5000 mcg Biotin version of the supplement as it superficially seems to be the more potent one. However, being aware there is also a 3000 mcg Biotin version of the supplement, I will also add a section within this article describing the differences between the two. [R] [R]
Hard To Imagine More Average Nutrient Forms
Not all nutrients are created equal.
At other times due to various genes and because of the fact that we all are different some can’t absorb certain nutrient forms. Meaning, their bodies can’t transform a particular vitamin or mineral form to a useable one. [R] [R] [R] [R]
Regardless of which is the case, hence it’s always best to go with the nutrient forms that are the most easily absorbed and thus, essentially guaranteed to benefit us.
While this is something that can definitely be said about the best multivitamin supplements out there, it’s not something you can say about Nature’s Bounty Hair, Skin & Nails.
While they are not the absolute cheapest forms across the board, however, they are pretty characteristic to a mediocre nutritional supplement.
Meaning certainly, it’s not as bad as it could have been. But it’s nothing ideal either.
While the solid forms of vitamin A, D, E, B2, B3, B5, B7, Iron, Zinc, and Manganese are looking good, it’s not as good if we are seeing it all in context. [R] [R] [R] [R] [R] [R] [R] [R] [R] [R] [R] [R] [R] [R] [R] [R] [R] [R] [R] [R] [R] [R] [R] [R] [R] [R] [R] [R] [R] [R] [R] [R] [R] [R] [R] [R] [R] [R] [R] [R]
So, the supplement has 10 solid nutrient forms…
Well, what about the other 19?
What about the other 19 crucial vitamins and minerals for your well-being?
Well, they are either in weak forms or non-existent.
Many Nutrients Completely Missing; Amounts Are Scarce
The Nature’s Bounty Hair, Skin & Nails is a supplement that has only 17 nutrients of the 29 needed ones for general health.
So, the supplement is completely missing such needed and crucial nutrients as Vitamin K, Calcium, Iodine, Magnesium, Copper, Chromium, Molybdenum, Boron, Vanadium, Inositol, Carotenoids, and the optional Potassium. And if we’re being picky there are also no additional mixed Tocopherols and Tocotrienols.
What’s even worse, most of these come in amounts that are insufficient.
Some may initially disagree to that statement, however, it must be said that Percentage Daily Values are not the values that represent the amounts needed for great health.
These actually represent the amount of a particular nutrient that is needed for you to not get sick with a deficiency disease. On that same note, needless to say that not getting sick is very, very far from having great health. [R] [R] [R] [R] [R] [R] [R] [R] [R] [R] [R] [R] [R] [R] [R] [R]
Thus, the nutrient amounts that people should actually strive for to acquire through supplements are represented by Prime Daily Values.
And the Nature’s Bounty Hair, Skin & Nails is very far off from those.
For example, Prime Daily Values state that you should strive for 25-50 mg of B1. However, the supplement contains only 5 mg. Another example, it is said to best strive for 100-200 mcg of Selenium. Whereas the supplement only offers 12.5 mcg.
And there are many more examples like these.
Ultimately, only Vitamin A, D, B7, and Manganese can be said to have sufficient amounts for your well-being. Of these, Vitamin B7 is present in very abundant amounts as in part ensuring that extra hair, skin & nail benefit (there are other substances to the blend to support this). [R] [R] [R] [R] [R]
At the end of the day, some might be saying that this is inaccurate as you are not actually getting this supplement to ensure all your nutritional needs. They are getting it so that they could improve the health of your hair, skin, and nails.
At the same time though, it must be noted that it’s essentially meant to replace your multivitamin (as I mentioned earlier and according to the manufacturer). [R]
Furthermore, trust me when I say this if you’ll end up deficient or your health deteriorated due to lack of the nutrients that this supplement does not contain there will be no “beauty from within” (as the manufacturer claimed). [R]
This supplement won’t matter. And all the health of your hair, skin & nails won’t make you happy (or it just won’t happen in the first place).
Moreover, having all your nutritional needs satisfied will inherently result in healthy and strong hair, skin, and nails. Which you can, of course, further improve with certain nutrients like the B7 and certain additional beneficial substances.
All Additions Resolve Around Health Of Hair, Skin & Nails
Nature’s Bounty Extra Strength Hair, Skin & Nails introduces 7 different beneficial substances – Argan Oil, PABA (Para-Aminobenzoic Acid), Alpha Lipoic Acid, Horsetail, Hydrolyzed Collagen, and Hyaluronic Acid.
All of these are in one way or another geared towards improving the health of those hair, skin, and nails that the supplement is all about.
Argan Oil is known to reduce signs of skin aging, promote wound healing, moisturize skin and hair, improve the elasticity of skin, dry skin, and sore skin, support reduced redness and irritation of the skin. [R] [R] [R] [R]
PABA is known for its 4 main benefits.
Alpha Lipoic Acid is a substance for reducing skin aging and promoting healthy skin, promoting healthy nerve function and muscle regeneration, improving weight loss, lowering blood sugar levels, battling inflammation, preventing cell damage, improving mitochondrial function, decreasing bad cholesterol, and protecting the brain among other health benefits. [R] [R] [R] [R] [R] [R]
Whereas Horsetail will boost Collagen production, thus, strengthening hair, nails, bones, and teeth. It has anti-aging properties, promotes hair growth, treats acne, takes care of split ends and brittle nails, cures dandruff, as well as works as a natural conditioner and improves wound healing. [R] [R] [R] [R] [R]
Additionally, it treats swelling, alleviates anxiety, improves sleep, immunity, and mental cognition, reduces inflammation, fights cancer and chemotherapy-related side-effects, promotes healthy kidneys, improves digestion and weight loss among other benefits. [R] [R] [R] [R] [R]
Hydrolyzed Collagen, also known as collagen peptides, is an amazing substance for savoring that youthlike look of your skin, promoting a glowing look and elasticity reducing wrinkles and essentially reversing any type of visible skin aging. [R] [R] [R] [R] [R]
Additionally, the substance also improves hair growth, strengthens nails and teeth, joint health, bone density, as well as improves blood sugar regulation, heals bedsores and leaky gut, boosts metabolism and keeps muscles strong and functioning among other benefits. [R] [R] [R] [R] [R]
And lastly Hyaluronic Acid is a substance naturally found in the human body the main function of which is to retain water in your tissues, thus, keeping it well lubricated and moist. [R] [R] [R] [R] [R]
For example, it is known to promote healthier, more supple and “dewier” skin, hydrate dry and aged skin, heal dandruff and bags under the eyes, reduce wrinkles, improve wound healing, skin elasticity, sores, and sunburn, aid with joint health, reduce dry eyes and eye discomfort among other benefits. [R] [R] [R] [R] [R]
Additionally, Vitamin B7 could also be somewhat considered as a beneficial substance due to the very abundant amounts it is present in the Nature’s Bounty Hair, Skin & Nails. Thus, supporting the health of hair, skin & nails. [R] [R] [R] [R] [R]
So, it can be definitely said that the beneficial substances have their fair share of benefits, many of which are primarily geared towards the well-being of hair, skin & nails.
Does The Nature’s Bounty Hair, Skin & Nails Actually Work?
The internet is absolutely booming of all the positive reviews people swearing by the Nature’s Bounty Hair, Skin & Nails.
There are, of course, also enough negative reviews regarding the supplement. But this is absolutely normal as there is no product in existence that only gets positive reviews.
In truth, it seems that around 85% of customers purchased this product are satisfied with the results.
Furthermore, it’s worth noting that people are naturally usually more eager to leave a negative review than a positive one.
So, the success rate of Nature’s Bounty Hair, Skin & Nails is probably above 90%. Which is incredible and they definitely must be on to something.
As for the rest of the 10% of people who did not feel any benefit, there are a plethora of reasons why this could be.
The most common and obvious reason is that they have inflamed gut, which may interfere or block the absorption of certain key nutrients completely or to an extent. For some, their bodies might not be able to inherently digest certain of the beneficial substances or other nutrients in the supplement.
For others, some of the ingredients might cause an allergic reaction rather than manifest improvements to your health. And there are also definitely people who are actually a particular nutrient deficient but might not know it (it’s how it usually goes anyway).
Thus, although they might be getting it from the supplement, it’s only enough to cover the needs crucial for not getting sick with a deficiency disease. There the improvements to health are out of the question as there is just too less of the good stuff to go around.
And by no means, this exhausts the possible reasons for not feeling a benefit. However, generally speaking, and most often than not not feeling a benefit might be a precursor of a bigger underlying problem that you might not be aware of.
At the end of the day, the Nature’s Bounty Hair, Skin & Nails certainly does have the potential to improve your hair, skin, and nail health.
And generally speaking, this is where 99.9% of the reviews out there stop.
But this one won’t.
There is still much important stuff to talk about.
Additives In This One Really Suck, I Mean Really SUCK
Although additives is something that is rarely explored in the reviews, the quality and importance of those is far too often understated.
And like anything that we consume also certain additives can have negative health implications. That is not to say that all of them are bad because, in truth, they are very necessary.
But it’s to note that there are both harmless ones and harmful ones.
The best kind of supplements can always be associated with the harmless ones, whereas the average and the poor ones, which do not truly care for your health are more often than not full of harmful ones.
In this regard, the Nature’s Bounty Hair, Skin & Nails is more consistent with the mediocre supplements.
The supplement employs 8 different additives – Soybean Oil, Gelatin, Vegetable Glycerin, Soy Lecithin, Carmine Color, Mica, Silica, and Titanium Dioxide Color. Of these, at least a few can be potentially very hazardous.
It seems, however, that the risks significantly outweigh any gains it might have. This primarily is due to the fact that it promotes chronic inflammation, which is the root cause of virtually all chronic diseases in existence. [R] [R] [R] [R] [R] [R]
But that is not the end of it.
Nature’s Bounty is famous for scrupulously describing all of it’s “free of” claims about any of its supplements. And the Nature’s Bounty Extra Strength Hair, Skin & Nails is no exception.
It lists the following – No Artificial Flavor, No Preservatives, No Sugar, No Starch, No Milk, No Lactose, No Gluten, No Wheat, and No Fish.
But what about GMOs?
Well, many of its supplements including, for example, the Nature’s Bounty Vitamin B12 and others do contain that claim – Non-GMO. On that same note, there are others like the Nature’s Bounty Biotin, which do not. And thus, the latter, without a doubt, do contain GMOs.
The same it is with the supplement of this review as well.
And this can definitely be also regarded to the Soy Lecithin present in the supplement.
Thus, it’s safe to assume that it’s now been used left and right for absolutely everything – be it foods or supplements, it doesn’t matter. But as with any new revolutionary idea of the food industry, it’s completely at the disregard of people’s health. [R] [R] [R] [R] [R] [R] [R]
The very core issue with Titanium Dioxide being of nanoparticles, is the fact that they are inherently too small for the digestive system to filter them out and thus, safely remove from the organism. But being too small to filter means that they have the capacity to move freely across the body and cause inflammation, whenever they find themselves. [R] [R] [R] [R] [R] [R] [R] [R]
The third shady additive is Carmine Color which is another color present in the supplement. Although it is considered to be of a natural kind, it is widely known for causing allergic reactions. [R] [R] [R] [R] [R]
And Mica is also definitely I’m not a fan about the Nature’s Bounty Hair, Skin & Nails. It is something that is frequently used in cosmetics to give kind of a sparkling effect, as well as it is known to have other uses. [R] [R] [R] [R] [R]
So, to sum it up, although in essence, the Nature’s Bounty Hair, Skin & Nails has proved its efficacy, through its additives it can still bring about devastating health effects even if they are not immediately noticeable.
Therefore, is it really the best option to go for if you want to improve the health of your hair, skin, and nails?
Solution – What Your Hair, Skin And Nails Actually Need?
While Nature’s Bounty Hair, Skin And Nails definitely works in terms of providing benefits for your hair, skin, and nails, it is by no means a great option.
In truth, it’s pretty simple.
The supplement, in essence, is a cheap multivitamin with few additional beneficial substances that are responsible for the actual improvements of the three.
What the Nature’s Bounty Extra Strength Hair, Skin And Nails can nutrient-wise (through vitamins and minerals) do for your health, any proper multivitamin can do much better.
As for the additional beneficial substances, the key is in figuring out, which are the ones primarily responsible for the benefits of the three. And after that finding a proper supplement that supplements those without the addition of harmful additives.
Alternatively, if such exact supplement is not available, then have it employ such additional beneficial substances that are even better for improving your health of hair, skin & nails.
The key ingredients for making it happen seems to be three.
High dose of vitamin B7 (Biotin), Hydrolyzed Collagen, and Horsetail. Surely, the other beneficial substances also help but they are not as crucial for the wanted benefit as these.
After some research what I was able to come up with were two supplements that should work absolute wonders when coupled with one of the best multivitamin supplements.
The best part about it is that either of those two will be absolutely compatible, meaning you can easily use both a hair, skin & nail supplement along with a proper multivitamin simultaneously and you don’t have to while using one drop the other.
The first one, and what I would recognize as the better option is the Life Extension Hair, Skin & Nails Rejuvenation Formula with VERISOL (available on Amazon, as well as on iHerb for cheap international shipping).
The other option is an alternative for vegans and vegetarians, which should also work wonders. It’s the Now Foods Solutions Vegan Hair Skin & Nails (available on Amazon, as well as on iHerb for cheap international shipping).
I bet you’ll be amazed.
The Weaker Version Of The Nature’s Bounty Hair, Skin And Nails And Their Differences
Lastly, as I promised some insights as regards to the weaker version of the Nature’s Bounty Hair, Skin & Nails or also referred to as the Nature’s Bounty Hair, Skin And Nails 3000 mcg Biotin version.
For simplicity reasons I will refer to the Nature’s Bounty Hair, Skin And Nails 5000 mcg Biotin as the 5000 mcg version (Extra Strength Version), whereas it’s counterpart – as the 3000 mcg version (The Standard Version).
Vitamin and Mineral wise it’s pretty much almost all the same stuff.
The 3000 mcg version has less vitamin B2 and Manganese, no Iron and Selenium. However, over the 5000 mcg version, it has some Calcium, Magnesium, and Phosphorus. And, of course, the differences in Biotin (vitamin B7) amounts.
That sums it all up there.
As for the additional beneficial substances, there are quite a few differences.
The 3000 mcg version lacks Argan Oil, Alpha Lipoic Acid, and Hyaluronic Acid. However, over the 5000 mcg version, it has Inositol and Citrus Bioflavonoid / Rutin Complex.
One surprising aspect nonetheless is the fact that the 3000 mcg version does not have any harmful additives.
Which may beg the question, is ultimately the Nature’s Bounty Hair, Skin & Nails 3000 mcg Biotin a viable option as the reported success rate is maybe a little smaller but essentially the same as it was with the 5000 mcg?
Well, yes and no.
While the additional beneficial substances definitely work, the Nature’s Bounty Hair, Skin & Nails is still a very bad and cheap multivitamin, which excludes the option of you taking a proper multivitamin supplement.
Which in essence is really bad as the supplement of this review definitely can’t replace the latter but using them simultaneously would typically make you overdose on certain nutrients. Which needless to say you don’t want.
Thus, by all means, if you’re a diehard fan of the Nature’s Bounty Hair, Skin & Nails or if it’s the only supplement you want to be using and you don’t care about all the benefits, which come with having a proper multivitamin…
I’m not against that. It’s your choice.
However, if you truly want your hair, skin, and nails to be at their absolute best and your overall health along with it what I mentioned in the previous chapter is what I would sincerely suggest to you.
Final Thoughts On Nature’s Bounty Hair, Skin And Nails
Ultimately, the Nature’s Bounty Hair, Skin And Nails is just a cheap multivitamin supplement that has few key ingredients that are the essential factors in people experiencing any improvements when it comes to their hair skin and nails.
They say “It contains just the right balance of nutrients to help support lustrous hair, strong nails and vibrant skin” but what about your overall health?
Is it really that you want only great hair, nails and skin, or is it rather that you want great health overall with the addition of improved characteristics of your hair, nails, and skin?
If it’s the first one of the two, the Nature’s Bounty Hair, Skin & Nails 3000 mcg Biotin version (available also on Amazon) seems to be a viable option. Preferably never go for the Extra Strength version (5000 mcg Biotin) of the supplement as that supplement has some intensely nasty additives that can in time really backfire on your health.
But if the second option is the one that truly interests you more than anything then a combination of a proper multivitamin and the Life Extension Hair, Skin & Nails Rejuvenation Formula with VERISOL (available also on Amazon) or the Now Foods Solutions Vegan Hair Skin & Nails (available also on Amazon) – an alternative for vegans and vegetarians – is by far your best bet.
Other than that, I hope this Nature’s Bounty Hair, Skin & Nails review helped you find the information you were looking for. But if not, definitely let me know in the comments on how I could further improve it.
If you get a chance, even one line in the comments helps a ton and will be highly and sincerely appreciated.
Hope to see you in another article!
