In this Smarty Pants Kids Complete Review, we will take a close in-depth look at everything that the supplement offers, as well as all that you must know before actually purchasing it.
We’ll start off by examining the claims made for it, then we’ll look at the vitamin and mineral forms in it, as well as we’ll take a glimpse of their amounts. Then we’ll check if there are any other beneficial substances a part of it. And we’ll end off with an overlook on the additives and potential risks with those if any.
All to make as accurate of an assessment about the supplement as possible.
The goal here is to create a review so thorough that there would not be a need for you to ever look at another supplement review for this specific supplement. Therefore, if there is a section or aspect I haven’t covered but you’re interested in, let me know. And I’ll add that to the review.
Smarty Pants Kids Complete Review – Overview
Smarty Pants Kids Complete is a gummy multivitamin with added omega-3 fatty acids primarily targeted towards the population of kids. Certainly, adults can take them too.
The description page (sale’s page) of the supplement I wouldn’t say is an overstuffed one with text.
There are the supplement facts, the ‘No Junk in These Gummies’ list, as well as some facts about Omega-3, Vitamin D3, Vitamin B9 (Folate), Vitamin B12 (Methylcobalamin) and being without GMOs, synthetic colors, artificial flavors, or artificial sweeteners [R].
But they do not affirm that any of the benefits is something that the child will gain through the supplement [R].
Additionally, they are a proud supporter of Vitamin Angels, which means that grant some supplements to children in need for every purchase [R].
And last of all Smarty Pants Kids Complete is the #1 bestseller on Amazon in the category of multivitamin supplements.
Let’s see if it’s really worthwhile or is it all just marketing.
Nutrient Forms Are Solid More Often Than Not
The supplement itself does not contain a lot of different nutrients. But the ones that it does have, more often than not are in the best forms possible.
To be more precise, 75% of the time you get nutrients that will be easily absorbed by your body, thus, accounting for an easy benefit.
Here you have, for example, preformed vitamin A, D, B2, B5, B7, B9, B12, and Iodine.
On the other camp, you’ll have not the most beneficial forms – the place of Vitamin C, E, B1, B6, Zinc, and Choline.
But is that enough for a solid benefit for a kid’s health?
Nutrient Diversity And Amounts Are Miserable
To be honest, not really.
So, the Smarty Pants Kids Complete combines within itself 14 different essential nutrients. Which is quite off the number of 27-28, which is the actual number of various nutrients a proper comprehensive kids multivitamin should have.
Thus, the supplement lacks completely such crucial nutrients for kid’s growth and well-being as vitamin B3 and K, Calcium, Magnesium, Selenium, Copper, Manganese, Chromium, Molybdenum, Boron, Vanadium, Carotenoids, and potentially also some Iron and Potassium.
To make matters worse, some of the nutrients in the Smarty Pants Kinds Complete are pretty much non-existent. Meaning, one could say that they are there only to appear that the supplement is more nutritious than it actually is.
For example, you have vitamin B1 (Thiamin) in amounts of 0.05 mg, which is a ridiculously low amount. Furthermore, the vitamin form it’s in is not that well absorbed by the body. Thus, it really won’t account for any benefit.
The same can also be said about vitamin B2 (Riboflavin). Also, present only in amounts equal to 0.17 mg, which is, again, a miserably low amount. And the same also definitely applies to the vitamin B5 (Pantothenic acid).
What’s even worse is that the supplement might give you the impression that all the nutritional needs of your child have been taken care of. But nothing can be further from the truth.
At the end of the day, the supplement is more like a bad joke to the health than actually a nutritions one for your offspring!
And this will only further unveil as we continue on with this Smarty Pants Kids Complete Review.
50% Beneficial Substances Might Be Harmful
Okay, so I was modest here. I wrote “50% Beneficial Substances Might Be Harmful” but, in truth, that 50 % have the potential to be extremely, and I mean Extremely detrimental.
So, we have 2 different beneficial substances – Inositol and Fish Oil.
Inositol is all good, it will help and improve brain function, as well as do many other great things for the child’s cognitive performance and well-being. This is good 50% [R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R].
However, there is a catch to this.
I mean, I guess I don’t have to tell you how polluted the oceans are due to industrial activity. I hope you are aware of that.
Thus, the fish that live in the kind of environment do accumulate those chemicals and harmful substances within them. And in the process of creating fish oil do we want it or not those harmful substances find their way into that fish oil [R].
Therefore, it is extremely important for fish oil to be properly purified.
In this regard, there is only one third-party organization, which does these kinds of tests to approve purity – IFOS (International Fish Oil Standards Program).
And Smarty Pants Kids Complete has not been approved by IFOS [R].
To make things worse, I have a reason to believe that actually the supplement has been tested but haven’t passed the test. Meaning, not only is it not simply approved but when tested it proved to be too contaminated to be completely safe.
There are two things, which make believe that this is the case.
First, almost every other Fish Oil containing supplement manufactured by Smarty Pants has been tested by IFOS and has been approved.
Those include Men’s Complete, Women’s Complete, Adult Complete, even the Smarty Pants Kids Complete Cherry Berry, which is a different variation of the supplement at hand.
Thus, they are well aware of such IFOS standard, as well as it’s highly unlikely that for some reason they decided not to test the Smarty Pants Kids Complete (Original edition – the one we are looking into).
Second, IFOS lists only the supplements who received a 5-star rating leaving out those supplements, which didn’t receive one. This is also why I believe when examining certain supplement brands that come up in the list, no supplements have been listed under those [R].
And this definitely is not because they just inherently list all of the supplement brands in existence on their list. Because then there’s quite a number of brands missing, like Source Naturals or Nature’s Plus.
Therefore, there, without a doubt, is a high chance that the fish oil present in the Smarty Pants Kids Complete is contaminated.
This only means that the kind of fish oil is among the most harmful and detrimental substances to anyone’s health making the supplement more about harming your offspring’s health than improving it.
But the misfortunes with the Smarty Pants Kids Complete does not end there.
Additives – Learning Difficulties & Making Your Kid Stupid (Guaranteed!!)
Additives, additives, additives. Something that very, very, very few supplements can do without. Something that no multivitamin can do without.
And Smarty Pants Kids Complete is no exception.
The supplement contains a variety of additives – Organic Cane Sugar, Organic Tapioca Syrup, Gelatin, Pectin, Citric Acid, Natural Flavors, Colors Added (Annatto, Organic Turmeric, Organic Black Carrot Juice Concentrate).
While there are many risks with the additives above, two of those I want to take some time to outline for you here.
Organic Cane Sugar and Organic Tapioca Syrup.
Many will try to tell you and convince you that Organic Cane Sugar is healthy. And while it is true that it has some better qualities than the typical table sugar solely because of the way how it’s processed nothing can be further from the truth [R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R].
The key thing to never forget is that Organic Cane Sugar is NOT HEALTHY JUST BECAUSE IT IS ORGANIC. Not everything that is organic is healthy. And Organic Cane Sugar is exactly the case, it is still sugar [R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R].
Sugar is not healthy in any type, shape or form regardless of if it’s organic or not. The consumption of sugar is linked to obesity, heart disease, eating disorders, depression, cancer, diabetes, and many, many more adverse effects [R, R, R, R, R, R, R].
In children, this most likely will manifest as aggressive behavior, hyperactivity or learning difficulties, along with what many believe will make them quite literally stupider. On that same note, other possible adverse effects by no means can be ruled out [R, R, R, R, R, R, R].
Like it wasn’t enough already with all the candy bars and all kinds of sweet snacks that the children typically consume during the day anyway.
Please, don’t be an irresponsible or negligent parent. It’s crucial to go with a supplement that does not contain any sugar. Absolutely crucial. I can’t emphasize this enough.
And the Organic Tapioca Syrup is a substance that only further makes it all go downhill.
To really get the picture, think of High Fructose Corn Syrup as the worst possible, most harmful form of sugar there is because it is exactly that. Anything that the typical sugar can do to you, this one can do the same only in a way more devastating way [R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R].
And don’t think for a second that this is not the case because they claim to not have High Fructose Corn Syrup in the gummies.
For all, we care this can just be another General Mills’ Vanilla Chex story. Long story short, that company claimed to not have High Fructose Corn Syrup in the product, which was very far from the truth. They did have it in the product, only with a changed name [R].
Final Thoughts On Smarty Pants Kids Complete
So…? Is Smarty Pants Kids Complete something beneficial for kids?
It’s such an important thing to note and to understand. There really is no benefit for children there. You are just actively giving them sugar that will be of detriment more than anything.
And I absolutely love what extensive and great marketing practices can lead people into buying. At this very moment, this supplement is the #1 bestseller on Amazon in the category of multivitamin supplements.
Which is such an absolute madness.
Poor kids is all I can say.
I hope you’ll enough equipped now to make a better decision though. Not for you, for your offspring’s future.
At the end of the day, I would highly recommend for kids nutrition to go with one of the best multivitamin supplements only consume it in a considerably lower amount, for example, 1 capsule (of course, depends on the age of the kid).
On that same note, if sweet nutrition is something you can’t do without, then best go with something like Naturelo multivitamins for kids. Those do not use sugar, yet still are sweet and tasty with the help of some Stevia, which can be considered as the healthy alternative to sugar.
Other than that, I hope the article helped you find the information you were looking for. But if not, definitely let me know in the comments on how I could further improve it.
