Essence Curcumin or E100 is an extremely beneficial, yellow, most abundant compound (Curcuminoid) produced and found in Turmeric (Curcuma longa).
Names Curcumin, E100, Natural Yellow 3, Diferuloylmethane, CI 75300.
Sourcing  It is extracted from the stem and roots (rhizome) of Turmeric which are either from Curcuma longa or Curcuma domestica.
Manufacturing The rhizome Turmeric is dried. Then, the raw material is ground and crushed into a powder which is then washed with a specific solvent. This way, the coloring matter is extracted which is then subject to distillation. The result of that is then washed with another suitable solvent that is capable of extracting the Curcumin pigment. The options for a suitable solvent for the process include Isopropanol, Carbon Dioxide, Acetone, Ethyl Acetate, Methanol, Ethanol, n-Butanol, Hexane, and Dichloromethane.
Application Coloring (yellow to orange, not very water-soluble).
Acceptable Daily Intake Essentially infinite. It has never shown any negative effects, even in ridiculously high doses such as 12 grams daily.
Side Effects None, even in extremely high doses such as 12 grams daily.
