Digestive Advantage Probiotics Review – Providing Most Info

Overview  |  Probiotic Strains  |  Amounts  |  Additional Beneficial Substances  |  Additives  |  Conclusions  |

In this Digestive Advantage Probiotics Review, we will discuss in detail all 9 probiotic supplements of Digestive Advantage.

First and foremost we will do a summary of the most important claims made for all of the supplements (they are barely different). After that, we’ll focus on absolutely everything there is to uncover – the probiotic strains, their amounts, additional beneficial substances, as well as additives.

Tons Of Different Options With These Schiff Digestive Advantage Ones

When considering the Digestive Advantage Probiotics there are a complete number of 9 supplements we have to address.

In essence, all of them are not that different from one another but we’ll still discuss all in detail. There are 6 gummy supplements and 3 non-gummy supplements in their line-up [R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R].

Digestive Advantage Probiotics ReviewThe very first is the Digestive Advantage Superfruit Blend Probiotic Gummies. It’s their most expensive single packaging supplement that provides a single strain of probiotics. It’s primarily geared towards adults and children 3 years of age and older.

The second of the pack is called Digestive Advantage KIDS Prebiotic Fiber Plus Probiotic Gummies. This is a gummy probiotic all about improving the gut health and overall well-being of children. And similarly, as the previous one, this one also offers one strain of probiotics.

The third on the list is Digestive Advantage Prebiotic Fiber Plus Probiotic Gummies. This, in essence, is the exact same supplement as the very previous one is. The only difference is in the fact that this one also offers fructooligosaccharides (fiber) to improve the efficacy of the probiotics.

Fourth we have Digestive Advantage Strawberry Daily Probiotic Gummies. This is a supplement actually identical to the Superfruit Blend Probiotic Gummies. The only difference I reckon is in their taste. Otherwise, it’s all exactly the same, except for the price.

The fifth spot is for the Digestive Advantage Daily Probiotic Gummies. This one is absolutely identical to the Strawberry Daily Probiotic Gummies and Superfruit Blend Probiotic Gummies. The only difference between those is again the price.

The sixth is a supplement geared towards kids only called Digestive Advantage KIDS Daily Probiotic Gummies. It’s a supplement intended for children up to age 12. However, ingredient wise and even probiotic amount-wise it’s an identical supplement of Daily Probiotic Gummies, Strawberry Daily Probiotic Gummies, and Superfruit Blend Probiotic Gummies.

The seventh is their cheapest supplement for a single packaging called Digestive Advantage Daily Probiotic Capsules. It’s a supplement that for a change is not a gummy supplement. It’s also much more potent than any of the predecessing supplements offering 3-4 times higher probiotic amounts. However, still only one probiotic strain.

The eight of the pack is the Digestive Advantage Prebiotic Fiber Plus Probiotic Tablets. This is a supplement identical to the Prebiotic Fiber Plus Probiotic Gummies, except for the fact that it is not gummy. Thus, the additives are quite different. It’s also the supplement, which offers the least servings per packaging.

Lastly, the ninth is the Digestive Advantage Fast Acting Enzymes & Daily Probiotic. It’s somewhat one of the most sophisticated supplements on this line-up. It’s because not only does it offer most probiotics (amount-wise the same as Daily Probiotic Capsules) but also various enzymes for improved digestion.

Although each of these supplements has its own description page, the claims made for their use are very similar only varying slightly wherever it seems that there is too few to highlight in their description.

For all the gummies claims essentially portraying the message that they are delicious and healthy is the standard.

Dietary Fiber Is Extremely Important For Digestive Health

Generic claims informing about the general benefits of probiotics are also pretty common. They’ve chosen to focus on digestive health and immune health.

Where there’s Fiber added they generally do put emphasis on those improving the overall benefits as Fiber essentially is prebiotic that has that effect.

Where they do, however, differ greatly from all the other probiotic manufacturers is their patented BC30 Probiotic that they use in all of their supplements.

This type of delivery system is claimed to be 100 times more effective as others typically disintegrate in stomach acid before they can deliver good bacteria to your intestines.

Occasional guarantees for purity, freshness and labeled potency caught my eye. Additionally, the same is also with some Gluten-free claims – these were also not consistent.

Above all, does this sounds like a great supplement?

Would you buy it for your kids or use it yourself?

Either way, we’ll dissect all of them now to make it a better and more informed choice.

It’s Sad That They Only Use One Strain

I mean when it comes to probiotic strains they can’t be blamed to be too creative or to have loads of options.

They have one patented probiotic strain, which is the only one that gets stuffed into every single probiotic supplement they offer. I mean they don’t even offer other strains in neither of the 9 supplements. Not even in the slightest amounts.

The probiotic strain that they have patented is the Bacillus Coagulans.

Bacillus Coagulans is definitely among the best probiotic bacteria out there. Many yogurt manufacturers claim to have various probiotics within their product but those are far too inferior when compared with this strain [R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R].

On top of that this probiotic bacteria is known for quite a few benefits even beyond digestive health. It’s good for boosting immunity, relieving Rheumatoid Arthritis, increasing the “Good” cholesterol levels, and decreasing blood insulin levels. However, the potential benefits of do not stop there [R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R].

Additionally, it’s also great for elevating the levels of other beneficial bacteria, enhancing protein absorption, reducing stomach pain, decreasing constipation, bloating, diarrhea, and vomiting among other health benefits [R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R].

Supposedly The Strain Of Bacillus Coagulans Present In Digestive Advantage Probiotics Is 100x Better

In addition to all this, this specific strain of Bacillus Coagulans is a patented strain that seems to be scientifically proven to survive 100x better than leading probiotics and yogurt. As far as I can tell this is legit

However, the strain is already inherently known to be pretty robust. So, it could be argued that it’s not too much of a gain due to the strains inherent strengths [R].

At the end of the day, following the general guidelines of the more various strains the better, the Digestive Advantage Probiotic group doesn’t really score too high [R, R, R, R].

This is due to that reason that all nine supplements do have only one probiotic strain within them. There is not one other strain in any of the supplements besides the Bacillus Coagulans.

Ultimately, while this may not be ideal and it even might be a huge turnoff for many, it still holds true. It holds true that the probiotic strain of Bacillus Coagulans has the capacity to do quite a lot of good for your health.

That is if it does not lack in amounts.

Generally Speaking, The Probiotic Amounts Are Too Insignificant

The best practices of Probiotic supplementation suggest that 10-20 billion twice daily is what you should generally strive for. Some may like a little more, others a little less but this is the general guideline.

There are also other approaches to probiotic supplementation, which do suggest that more would better. Meaning, exceeding the 20-40 billion of CFU (Colony-Forming Unit) daily would be even more beneficial [R, R].

Be as it may, that 10-20 billion twice daily could be considered as somewhat of the ideal minimum.

Probiotic Amounts Within The Digestive Advantage Probiotics Are Not Too Abundant To Say The LeastSadly, none of the probiotics of the Digestive Advantage Probiotic group do subscribe to that kind of amounts.

Digestive Advantage Superfruit Blend Probiotic Gummies, Strawberry Daily Probiotic Gummies, Daily Probiotic Gummies, and KIDS Daily Probiotic Gummies – all have 500 Million of CFU per serving.

Which means that one serving (recommended daily amount) of either of these is 40-80 times off.

Digestive Advantage KIDS Prebiotic Fiber Plus Probiotic Gummies, Prebiotic Fiber Plus Probiotic Gummies, and Digestive Advantage Prebiotic Fiber Plus Probiotic Tablets – all have 800 Million of CFU per serving.

Which in this case means that one serving (recommended daily amount) of either of these three is 25-50 times off.

Lastly, both the Digestive Advantage Daily Probiotic Capsules and the Digestive Advantage Fast Acting Enzymes & Daily Probiotic offer 2 Billion of CFU per serving.

Which although is the largest serving size of Digestive Advantage Probiotics, it’s still not enough to cover that approach of the best practices. Both are still 10-20 times off.

Supposedly you could just add up the serving size to as many servings as needed to be fully compliant with the general recommendations.

This would, however, mean that you would need to consume roughly 1 packaging per day of any of supplements besides both 2 Billion ones.

This not only will essentially squander your money but also will be particularly unhealthy considering the additives.

Obviously, there might still be significant benefits to your health even if you go with the standard serving size. It generally depends on many factors as well as how bad your gut health is at the moment.

On that same note, it’s also worth considering that supposedly the Bacillus Coagulans strain of Digestive Advantage Probiotics is 100 times better at surviving. Thus, maybe you don’t need as much. Maybe.

Either way, I might be wrong but it’s way more likely that the benefits will be incremental or barely noticeable.

So, Do These Supplements Bring More Than Just Probiotics?

While it’s not always clearly shown on the label, a few of the Digestive Advantage Probiotics supplements actually do have some additional beneficial substances to the blend.

Digestive Advantage Fast Acting Enzymes & Daily Probiotic – seemingly the most sophisticated supplement of the line-up – to the probiotic strain also adds Hemicellulase, Cellulase, Alpha-Galactosidase, and Invertase [R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R].

Digestive Advantage Probiotic Review – Enzymes Are All About Assisting Gut HealthWithout going into too much into detail, all of these will improve the digestion of anything that you consume. Thus, you could say that consuming these in many ways is very similar to taking probiotics [R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R].

The Digestive Advantage Daily Probiotic Capsules also has an addition though it’s not really a beneficial substance but rather a mineral.

To be more exact, it provides 140 mg of essentially the worst form of Calcium supplementation, which at the end of the day won’t be of much help [R, R, R, R, R, R, R].

And lastly, there is something interesting.

Although label-wise neither of the supplements have any other beneficial substances, there is, however, one hiding among the additives – Fructooligosaccharides.

This is the case for Digestive Advantage KIDS Prebiotic Fiber Plus Probiotic Gummies, Prebiotic Fiber Plus Probiotic Gummies, and Digestive Advantage Prebiotic Fiber Plus Probiotic Tablets.

Generally, Fructooligosaccharides are very beneficial to consume together with probiotics as they complement their effects in every possible way. This substance is like the food for probiotics and other good bacteria thus improving all the benefits that can be associated with a healthy gut [R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R].

The only downside to this is that it is nowhere indicated as to how much of the Fructooligosaccharides the supplement contains.

If the amount is 1 mg, it essentially won’t have any benefit. If it’s 100 or 1000 milligrams then it would have a great deal of influence.

At the end of the day though, it seems that that substance might be on the scarce side as it really is a beneficial substance and their exact amounts should have been indicated on the label.

However, as they are not it’s most likely because the amounts are not very abundant.

Why else would the manufacturer choose not to clearly show it on the label? It only benefits the supplement.

Gummies & Non-Gummies – Additives Entirely Different

Additives are the other ingredients, that are crucial in making the easy consumable dosages, like capsules, tablets, powders, gummies, possible. Thus, in essence, they are very important and very few supplements are able to be created without them.

Sadly, many overlook the additives saying that they can’t affect our health because they are not the active ingredients (the ones that provide benefit) of the supplement.

Boy, they are wrong… Did you know that most medicine has side-effects precisely because of the additives it uses?

Well, now you know. And supplements are the same way.

In all 9 of the Digestive Advantage Probiotics the additives are not that different. Essentially, they are similar among the gummy supplements and non-gummy supplements respectively.

But the composition of neither is a harmless one.

In Gummy Supplements, It’s All About The Sugar

In Essence The Gummy Digestive Advantage Probiotic Supplements Are No Different Than CandyThe Gummy supplements of Digestive Advantage Probiotics are guilty of what most gummies are. Loads and loads, and loads of sugar and possibly High Fructose Corn Syrup.

The label of the respective 6 supplements indicates Corn Syrup and Sugar to be part of their core ingredients.

What most people don’t know, however, is that Corn Syrup potentially is an alternative name for High Fructose Corn Syrup, which, in truth, is one of the most harmful sugars and additives you can ever consume. Period [R, R, R, R, R].

You see, the food industry’s not stupid. They know people have become increasingly more aware of the devastating effects of the High Fructose Corn Syrup. Thus, a new name to hide that ingredient [R, R, R, R, R].

The substance can give you diabetes, heart disease, obesity or just simply cause weight gain, coronary artery disease, high blood pressure, improve your chances of winning the lottery of cancer, as well as have a plethora of other adverse effects to your health [R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R].

I mean good luck in trying to be healthy while also consuming this form of sugar. It’s like trying to improve your health by taking poison. Which is also why I’m by no means huge on gummy vitamins. 99% of them have this.

There are some like the Naturelo Gummy Supplements, which do not put this substance or any sugar in their supplements. They use stevia instead which is kind of the best alternative to providing a sweet taste.

Processed Sugar Is Not Your FriendBut don’t get me wrong. Also, the consumption of just regular sugar is not ideal. It’s been linked to stuff like straight up stupidity, obesity, eating disorders, heart disease, diabetes, aggressive behavior, hyperactivity,  depression, also cancer, learning difficulties, and by no means, the list ends there [R, R, R, R, R, R, R].

But that’s not all. Guess what?

Are you taking probiotics to improve your gut health and overall well-being or just health in general?

Well, all and any type of processed sugar feeds harmful bacteria of the gut and they spread and overpower the good ones. So, on one hand, you’re trying to improve your gut health, at the same time, on the other you are undermining it [R, R, R].

Does it really make sense to take Gummy vitamins for improving your digestive health and thus, your well-being overall?

In The Non-Gummy Supplements, There’s A Lot Of Shady Stuff, Too

The additives for Digestive Advantage Daily Probiotic Capsules, Prebiotic Fiber Plus Probiotic Tablets, and Fast Acting Enzymes & Daily Probiotic are not all the same. However, there are clear trends happening.

Maltodextrin is yet another form of sugar. Some even do consider it one of the worst forms of hidden sugar. Furthermore, among other adverse sugar-related effects it also can cause sudden headaches, itching, diarrhea, difficulty breathing, rash, bloating, as well as it can weaken the immune system among other adverse effects [R, R, R, R, R, R, R].

Titanium Dioxide is a more than likely nanoparticle substance, which due to their size have serious potential health implications [R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R].

For example, liver damage, kidney damage, heart disease, brain damage as well as many other potential adverse effects [R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R].

These are just two examples, however, by no means, they exhaust all that is potentially wrong and can be really harmful to your health over the long term.

Considering all this, at the end of the day, there is not one Digestive Advantage Probiotics supplement that would be completely safe and potentially hazardless to your health.

I Don’t Think This Is A Good Option For Digestive Health

Supposedly there is a lot to choose from when considering the Digestive Advantage Probiotics because its line-up offers 9 different probiotic supplements.

While there is evidence that the patented strain that all of them use is more effective than its counterparts they do have only that one strain in every single probiotic. Which is not ideal.

At the same time, doubts do exist that the amounts of CFU in the supplement will account for solid benefit as there is seemingly just too little to go around.

But while ultimately, this might be true or not, one thing is for sure. All of the 9 Digestive Advantage Probiotics in one way or another employ potentially very harmful additives. Thus, making the supplements of this brand essentially a poor choice of supplementation.

To that end, if you are interested in something both true quality and affordable as far as price, check out this review.

Above all, I hope this Digestive Advantage Probiotics review on all nine probiotic supplements helped you find the information you were looking for.

  1. After taking Digestive advantage daily probiotic gummies for 2 months I began to have a leaky gut. My husband began to take it also and so far so good for him! But with me, it is very uncomfortable. I tried taking it every other day, but as soon as I started it would come back again (the leaky gut). So I’m going to stop it altogether. Maybe it was the sugar content? From the very beginning I thought it was too sugary!

    • Hey, Connie!

I’m really sorry to hear that. I hope you’re doing better now. I’m sorry for not finding the time to get back to you sooner. :)

It is my opinion that the sugar forms in this absolutely can be the culprit for leaky gut. It definitely won’t be the case for everyone. But it’s probably not that rare either. It’s certainly the health risk according to many top-echelon resources out there.

Indeed, if you felt it was too sugary, it probably was.

All the best to you, Connie!

I’m not really sure about what might actually be the best. I mean, there are many very good options.

That being said, I believe one can’t go wrong with Now Foods Probiotic 10. Great, solid, abundant supplement at a good price. Should work for you great as well.

Cheers, and have a Great One!

  4. Wow, what an in-depth and insightful review of the Schiff Digestive Advantage probiotic. I had a problem with the way most of the supplements were almost the same with just a very minimal difference like taste. I was also starting to be like “gummies…sugar” before I saw you raised a red flag too. I actually doubt that I would buy any of these supplements for myself or my kids. I think that there are definitely better options.

  5. Hi there!

Your review on Digestive Advantage Probiotics is really appreciated. I must say your article and review will without a doubt really help a lot of people. I love probiotics they truly help my digestive system, I take one in the morning every day and I find it very effective since I started taking it. Furthermore, I have never experienced any negative effects of using it. I was looking to change mine since I found out they could possibly be even more beneficial if there were more of it. Per you review, Digestive Advantage Probiotics probably won’t be my choice. Thanks for sharing this article.

  6. Thanks for this informative review, Probiotics are live bacteria and yeasts that are good for you, especially your digestive system. We usually think of these as germs that cause diseases. But your body is full of bacteria, both good and bad but probiotic can be said to be the good or helpful bacteria because they help keep our guts healthy.

  7. Probiotics are very important for digestive health! I got food poisoning once and because of that, my intestines suffered a lot. I was on a liquid diet then soft solids for months and my doctor recommended that I took probiotics so my intestines could heal better and to make sure it had enough of healthy bacteria. Probiotics is literally healthy bacteria in a capsule.

Even if you are super healthy, probiotics is a supplement that you can add a few times a week.

  8. Hi, Thanks for this thoroughly researched review of the Digestive Advantage Probiotics. I always make it a point of duty to check online for review before using any health supplement product. I can tell that this is a non-biased review of the Digestive Advantage Probiotics, since you are leaving the reader to make their own choice. I have come to understand that for any probiotic supplement to be considered ideal, it must contain the right amounts of active ingredients, which will meet the minimum daily recommended dosage. Also, I have always thought that additives are safe and without side effects since they are not the core ingredients. I am a little wary of sugary product, and so will consider using the non-gummy Digestive Advantage Probiotics variant.

  9. With the growing spate of indigestion caused by things like stress, eating late, reaction to specific chemicals like gluten and most especially consumption of junk. A supplement of this kind would not only help with this problem but also do in a less dangerous way as it is made of single strain source, meaning a lesser reaction or no side effect is expected.

I am, however, puzzled because of the additives used in the supplements. I bet there are similar supplements to these Schiff products that are without those unnecessary ingredients. Thank you for sharing this Matiss.
