Nature’s Bounty Turmeric Review – Turmeric Comes Cheaply?

|  Marketing  |  Ingredients: 450 Mg, Standardized, Black Pepper  |  Side Effects  |  Reviews  |  Pricing  |  Ranking  |  Overall  |

According to the Nature’s Bounty Turmeric reviews posted by customers, this works wonders for pain relief. For many, it has been a great help with arthritis. For others, it has helped with back pain, sleep, shoulder pain, tendinitis, chronic pain, and everyday aches, and among others, it has even helped people with their skin health, acid reflux, and chronic cough. Thus, many said that it has been fantastic.

So, in this Nature’s Bounty Turmeric review, we will dive deep into all three of the supplements referred to by this name.

Hence, the idea is to be no extension of the manufacturer’s marketing or other similar nonsense. This is all going to be about what I feel is the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. And we’ll do that in assessing for marketing, ingredients, side effects (additives), customer feedback, and pricing. We’ll do it the truth-seeking way.

Marketing | By No Means, Is Nature’s Bounty A Marketing-Heavy Brand

According to the manufacturer, Nature’s Bounty Turmeric is the supplement of “an herbal component with a long history of use in India.” Per their words, “the active ingredients in Turmeric include beneficial flavonoids called Curcuminoids, which are plant-based antioxidants.” Which is like a very basic description [R, R, R].

Nature's Bounty Turmeric ReviewAnd that’s the kind of description we find by all three supplements of this review. The product pages they use are basically copy-paste of one another. And they’re very short.

I mean, they don’t even elaborate on the potential benefits. All that they say is that since Curcuminoids are antioxidants, they help battle free radicals in the body, thus contributing to anti-aging effects.

Which is a very humble way of putting. On that note, the pages don’t really concern themselves with marketing aspects. I mean, yes, we’ve got sections for Nature’s Bounty Turmeric reviews but other than that, there’s nothing more to add.

It doesn’t include free shipping with every order like the Jarrow Formulas Curcumin 95 (review). Neither does it offer a subscribe-and-save deal like the Bio Schwartz Turmeric Curcumin (review). As far as I can say, Nature’s Bounty doesn’t care for that.

Whereas as for free-of claims, we get plenty. The three Turmeric Curcumin supplements are said to be Non-GMO, Milk-Free, Lactose-Free, Starch-Free, Soy-Free, Gluten-Free, Wheat-Free, Sugar-Free, Artificial-Flavors-Free, Artificial-Colors-Free, Yeast-Free, Sodium-Free, Fish-Free, and Preservatives-Free.

So, it looks decent. But are the supplement of this review really worth the money?

Ingredients | To Review Ingredients, We’ll Look At Them One By One

Typically, when it comes to Turmeric Curcumin supplements, we get only one product per brand. To illustrate, that’s the case with both the Kyolic Curcumin (review) and Kirkland Turmeric (review), as well as many more. But that’s not the case with Nature’s Bounty. With this brand, we get three separate products.

There’s the Nature’s Bounty Turmeric 450 Mg, the Nature’s Bounty Turmeric 538 Mg, and Nature’s Bounty Plus Black Pepper Extract. So, for the purposes of being easy to understand and follow, let’s discuss each of them in a separate section.

But to start off already, none of them do third-party testing. I mean, they ensure in-house testing but third-party testing has always been the more trustworthy option. So, a slight flaw right off the bat.

Nature’s Bounty Turmeric 450 Mg (Review) – Being So Less Than Abundant Is Not Okay

The Nature’s Bounty Turmeric 450 Mg is the supplement that’s kind of the most basic one of the three. And so, it doesn’t really bring a variety of ingredients to the table. To that end, to some extent, the other two, essentially, build on it.

So, per serving (one capsule), this Turmeric offers 450 milligrams of Turmeric (Curcuma longa) and 50 milligrams Turmeric Extract (Curcuma longa) (root) (Standardized to contain 95% Curcuminoids). Here’s to elaborate.

Those 450 milligrams are just pure, raw Turmeric. Which means that it doesn’t have that many Curcuminoids to offer (only about 2-5%). But Curcuminoids are the juice of Turmeric Curcumin supplements. It’s the primary substance that brings all of the incredible gains [RRRRRRRR].

As for those 50 milligrams, the situation is a bit better there. Because it’s 95% standardized. And what that means is that 95% of the mass is Curcuminoids [R, R, R].

Hence, the raw Turmeric brings some 13.5 milligrams of Curcuminoids. Whereas the standardized stuff offers some 47.5 milligrams. Thus, 61 milligrams in total. And let me just say, this is a rubbish amount [RRRRRRRR].

I mean, any decent Turmeric Curcumin offers at least 950 milligrams of Curcuminoids per serving, plus there are augmentation-ensuring substances as well. And the Nature’s Bounty Turmeric 450 Mg has none of that. Which just means that it’s very unlikely to deliver on the full range of benefits of Curcuminoids [RRRRRRRR].

I mean, sure, they will provide some antioxidant power (as claimed). But it will be very far off that potential to be a powerhouse versus chronic diseases, reducing heart disease, fighting Alzheimer’s, promoting brain function, preventing cancer, delaying aging, fostering digestion, augmenting immune health, balancing hormone levels, improving liver health, battling off depression, and having other great health benefits [R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R].

Nature’s Bounty Turmeric Standardized Extract (Review) – Lacking Piperine Is Not An Option

Generally speaking, the Nature’s Bounty Turmeric Standardized Extract (one that contains 538 milligrams of Turmeric) is the slightly better way of doing things. Still, it’s far off the ideal one.

So, per serving (one capsule), the supplement contains 538 milligrams of Turmeric standardized to 93% Curcuminoids. Now, here’s to elaborate on that.

With this, we don’t have the typical 95% standardization but 93% still works. Meaning, out of the 538 milligrams, at least 500 milligrams of that is Curcuminoids. Go for two capsules, and we’ll have enough Curcuminoids to really deliver on the benefits, right?

Wrong.

While this Nature’s Bounty offers good amounts of Curcuminoids per capsule, it forgets completely one important factor. A factor that supplements like the PureNature Turmeric Curcumin (review) and the NatureWise Curcumin (review) do not forget. It forgets Black Pepper.

So, why is Black Pepper so important?

Well, Black Pepper contains a substance called Piperine. And Piperine has the properties to improve the absorption of a wide variety of other substances. One of those substances is Curcuminoids. And so, in research Piperine has been shown to improve Curcuminoid absorption by 2000% [RRRRR].

Thus, consuming a supplement that has standardized Turmeric but does not have Piperine, it is kind of washing money down the drain. Because we would have to have 20 times the amount of Curcuminoids to make up for the fact that the supplement doesn’t have any Black Pepper [RRRRR].

Nature’s Bounty Turmeric Plus Black Pepper Extract (Review) – Not Properly Abundant Still

While the Nature’s Bounty Turmeric Plus Black Pepper Extract does learn from the shortcoming of its 450 milligrams and Standardized Extract brothers, it still underdelivers, the way I see it.

So, per serving (one capsule), the supplement contains 900 milligrams of raw Turmeric extract, 100 milligrams of Turmeric 95% Curcuminoids, and 5 milligrams of BioPerine. Yet, again, here’s to elaborate.

We, again, have raw Turmeric. Which is fine. Supplements from time to time do add raw Turmeric to the mix as well while offering plenty of Curcuminoids. This is sadly not the case exactly as we’ve seen with supplements like the Vimerson Health Turmeric Curcumin (review) and Finest Nutrition Turmeric (review).

Meaning, yes, there’s that raw Turmeric but the standardized stuff is absolutely lacking. So, to do the math, this brings in a total of about 122 milligrams of Curcuminoids. Which, granted, is twice better than what Nature’s Bounty Turmeric 450 Mg offers but still.

It’s not enough.

As for Bioperine, it’s a patented ingredient of Black Pepper to ensure plenty of Piperine. And thus, to be able to provide a 20-fold increase in the absorbability of Curcuminoids. Therefore, more benefits [RRRRR].

And so, overall, this Black Pepper addition does make the supplement the most powerful option of all of Nature’s Bounty brand. That said, in a more grand scheme of things, that’s still not enough to successfully rival potency-wise the most capable competitors.

Side Effects | Additives Are Great In The Turmeric Curcumin Supplements

Side effects are the product of additives or the “glue” ingredients typically added for the making of supplements. While the additives differ across the three Nature’s Bounty Turmeric options, I don’t think they warrant for a separate section for each. Because all of them are fine [RRRRRRR].

Gelatin Is Likely Sourced From PigsSo, across the three supplements, we see various combinations of these ingredients. Gelatin, Silica, Vegetable Magnesium Stearate, Vegetable Stearic Acid, and Vegetable Cellulose. Here’s to elaborate.

Gelatin is likely sourced from porcine. But other than that, it can be considered beneficial despite the fact that at times, it may cause an unpleasant taste in the mouth or bad breath. Whereas Silica is a substance found in nature, and so, generally speaking, it is a very harmless additive [RRRR, RRR].

Vegetable Stearic Acid is a constituent of the Vegetable Magnesium Stearate. Both ingredients have been mistreated by many. I mean, most of the internet will try to convince us that these are harmful. That, however, is not true at all if we truly do the research. And the minority of high-profile doctors also agree. These are some of the most harmless ones there are [RRRRR].

Lastly, Vegetable Cellulose is another naturally occurring thing. In fact, we consume tons of it with vegetables and fruits already. Some more in a supplement won’t ever cause harm [RRRR].

Thus, to put it in simple terms, there shouldn’t be any side effects associated with these Nature Bounty supplements. I mean, for sure, allergic reactions are something that can happen for some select few people still. It’s definitely the exception and not the rule.

Reviews | They’re Very Well-Received But That’s The Danger

Time to discuss Nature’s Bounty Turmeric reviews left by customers on all kinds of platforms. To that end, we would first have to look at the customer review section available on the manufacturer’s page.

But three of those don’t really offer any real insight into how helpful and beneficial the supplement has been for people. Thus, we’re kind of left with the only other alternative which is to look at every single third-party seller and retailer. And assess from that the helpfulness of them.

So, in total, I managed to come across 2,356 Nature’s Bounty Turmeric reviews. That’s with all three of the supplements. So, here’s how they stack individually.

Nature's Bounty Turmeric Customer ReviewsFor the Nature’s Bounty Turmeric 450 Mg, I found 970 pieces of customer feedback. Of these, 941 were positive and 29 were negative. Thus, a success rate of 97.0%.

Then, with the Standardized Extract option, I found just 92 ratings. Of these, 85 were positive and 7 were negative. And while that may be a bit too soon to say anything about the success rates, it seems that they might be hovering at the 92.4% mark.

Lastly, it was the Nature’s Bounty Turmeric Plus Black Pepper Extract reviews. With these, there were 1,294. Of them, 1,245 were positive and 49 were negative. Hence, a global success rate of 96.2%.

Or if we’re summing all of that feedback together, we’ve got a total of 2,356 where 2,271 are positive and 85 are negative. So, as far as the success rate for the brand as a whole, Nature’s Bounty Turmeric sits at 96.4%. Which, to tell the truth, is bonkers high.

But that’s the danger. To look at the customer ratings and just buy the thing regardless of anything else. It is actually the reason why my reviews are not just a look at customer feedback. Because it would make for some very bad articles overall. And because people would often be lured into products they don’t actually need (we’re seeking the truth).

All that being said, what insights did the negative comments offer?

Well, for many, it was the case of making them sick and people experiencing an upset stomach or stomach distress. Others complained about receiving a product that didn’t recommend one capsule a day but three. Others more were disgusted by the pill and how big it was. And others more complained about the price.

Thus, while many liked it, not everyone was on board with it.

Pricing | It’s Utterly Absurd How Expensive Products Of This Review Are

Now, let’s discuss another practical aspect. Pricing. On that note, I did encounter quite a few Nature’s Bounty Turmeric reviews that went along the lines of this is actually not that great value for the price despite appearing that way. So, is this objectively true? Let’s do some math.

So, per container (60 capsules), the Nature’s Bounty Turmeric 450 Mg costs $9.88. That’s $0.16 for a capsule. Per container (45 capsules), the Standardized Extract option costs typically $15.39. Namely, that’s $0.34 for a capsule. Whereas Black Pepper option costs $15.39 for a container of 60 capsules. To do the math, that’s $0.26 for a capsule.

But to really assess how well it compares to the competition, we have to look at how much of the good stuff they provide. Meaning, what is the price that we’re paying for Curcuminoids.

And so for the 450 Mg option, that’s $2.56 for every 1000 milligrams of 95% Curcuminoids. For the Nature’s Bounty Turmeric Standardized Extract, that’s 65.0 cents per that same metric. And then, Turmeric with Black Pepper is $2.00 per that same metric but there’s also Piperine in the product.

The Supplements Are Actually Terribly ExpensiveSo, how does all of that compare?

Not well at all. I mean, it doesn’t really matter how we look at it. It’s rubbish. Here’s to elaborate.

Nutrigold Turmeric Curcumin Gold (review) costs 61.3 cents for every 1000 milligrams of 95% Curcuminoids. That’s about the price that the Nature’s Bounty Standardized Extract costs. But there’s so much more value we get.

I mean, not only is Nutrigold third-party tested but also it offers various third-party certifications like Non-GMO Project Verified and Vegan Certified. It has also got great additives, and it does also bring BioPerine. So, it’s not only cheaper than any of Nature’s Bounty, but it’s also way, way, way more value.

Another supplement that the Nature’s Bounty Curcumins get absolutely murdered by is NutriCology CurcuWIN (review). NutriCology costs 66.5 cents for every 500 milligrams of CurcuWIN. So, that’s a price for a patented Curcumin formulation that augments absorbability 136-fold. So, it’s instead of 20-fold like with Piperine, but 136-fold.

So, meaning, to do the math, we quite literally get 3.4 times better results with 500 milligrams of CurcuWIN than with 1000 milligrams of 95% Curcuminoids and Black Pepper. So, more benefits. And NutriCology is also third-party tested and has great additives.

And so, the way I see it, Nature’s Bounty to NutriCology is like comparing the dueling power of a mouse and a tiger. Nature’s Bounty is the mouse. Namely, it’s not even close.

Overall | Yes, Nothing Inherently Bad But Nothing To Boast About Either

Nature’s Bounty has never been a top brand for anything. I mean, yes, they are doing their thing, and sometimes their supplements are okay. And so, it comes really as no surprise that the Turmeric Curcumin supplements they offer are kind of miserable.

I Hate These ThoroughlyI mean, yes, for positives, there definitely are no inherently bad ingredients in them. The success rates are really good. And they don’t bombard their customers with all kinds of marketing. But then, just about anything else is bad.

I mean, for negatives, they don’t do third-party testing. On top of that, the beneficial ingredients are really inefficient. And they either don’t take advantage of Piperine or they forget to add decent amounts of Curcuminoids. And they have a price to match that awfulness.

So, (out of avoid it, consider it, shortlist it, buy it) I would recommend avoiding it. None of the three Nature’s Bounty Turmeric supplements are great or efficient products. Yes, they offer some Turmeric but there are so many more awesome options out there.

Plus, those more awesome options don’t actually cost more if we’re properly considering the good stuff in the supplements. So, if you’re after a proper Turmeric Curcumin and not some superficially cheap gimmick, I would recommend looking into this one (full review). I love it and I use it daily.

Above all, I hope this Nature’s Bounty Turmeric review helped you find the information you were looking for. If you have any thoughts or questions, I’m all here for you. And do feel free to leave your own personal reviews on the product as well.

  1. To say that I learned a lot would be to lie. I learned an absolute ton. Wow. So helpful. I will have to bookmark this site for further educative posts such as this.

Frankly, I would have not known any better, and I would have just bought the Nature’s Bounty Turmeric if I hadn’t come across your post. Thank you for explaining it all so well.

A personal experience of mine that I would love to share. My grandmother, when she was alive, used Turmeric in almost all of the foods she made, and I kept wondering how did she live that long (95 years old). I do think that within Turmeric lies that difference.

    Keep up the good work.

Yeah, Turmeric’s a great herb. It’s absolutely bonkers in terms of the kind of benefits that it is capable to provide. To that end, indeed, it might have been her secret.

  2. Hi Matiss. This was very interesting and insightful for me. Thank you for the article. I have been using the 450-milligram version of the Nature’s Bounty Turmeric for some years now. I had no knowledge that Black Pepper could make such a profound difference when it comes to Turmeric. I would even say that it’s shocking. And so, to follow science, I will have to change my supplement for something more thoughtful and better-designed.

Still, I think that Nature’s Bounty served me well. To that end, I don’t really regret ever buying it. It’s just that now I know better. Whereas to continue to use it when I now know better, I believe would be just dumb. And I won’t be doing that. :)

I appreciate you for bringing me the truth. You’re the truth-seeker for me. God bless.

  3. Since this topic is on Tumeric, the main ingredient, I thought I’d share a tidbit of helpful information for those with problems of bedsores. Using Tumeric applied to bandage to cover the bed sores after cleansing with a saline solution will help to heal the sores a lot quicker than pharmaceutical creams. This is because Tumeric is a natural antiseptic agent, as well as having anti-inflammatory properties and is an anti-oxidant to boot. Try this remedy if nothing else has worked.

  4. Thanks for the incredible Nature’s Bounty Turmeric review. :) I was surfing the internet for some answers regarding this ancient herb because it was recommended to me by a friend due to how well it naturally helps to relieve joint pain. And Nature’s Bounty just felt like the brand to look into given that I frequently spot in various places. Just some hour ago, I even got an ad for it. I did not feel like clicking on it before having a third opinion on the product. Then, I came across your site which covered it extensively. I’m confident that I won’t be going with this brand. I’ll check out some of the other ones you recommend. Thanks once again.

And, for sure, Turmeric Curcumin is an amazing herb. There are just tons and tons, and tons of benefits to gain (including pain relief) from it. I mean, some even go as far as to say that it is the most health-improving herb in the world. And personally, I absolutely agree with that.
